The AAU’s Family Services advises and informs students and AAU employees on all issues relating to children, family, compatibility and child care issues. The Family Services offers child care for university students and staff on a flexible hourly basis.

The public Kindergarten managed by the Uni-Kindergruppe (University Children’s Group Association) is located in the Lakeside Park building B02. Children ranging from age 1 to 3 are cared for using state-of-the-art educational methods on a half-day (mornings or afternoons) or full-day basis.

The privately managed child care service HOKIP GmbH is located in building B04 at Lakeside Park. The day-care center looks after children aged 1 – 3 by the concept of holistic pediatrics, full-day and half-day serviced. The concept focuses on the social competence of the child and aims to foster the mentioned. A holistic orientation accompanies the infantine learning and centers the child as a group’s individual.

The first English-language Kindergarten in Kärnten provides children the opportunity to experience the English language in an open, relaxed and playful atmosphere. The Kindergarten places great value on challenging the children developmentally yet they are not put under “pressure”. There are currently two groups with a maximum of 25 children each.

The Montessori “Bunte Knöpfe” (colourful buttons) kindergarten is based on the principle of “My responsibility towards you can only be to show myself as I am. Your responsibility towards me can therefore only be to allow me to be as I am”.
