Senior Researcher (m|f)

Lakeside Labs is a research cluster on self-organizing networked systems in information and communication technology.

Major Tasks

You will work in and lead research projects regarding teaming small UAVs as well as wireless communication. This comprises research work on technical foundations in the field of coordination of multiple UAVs or robots, path planning, M2M communication, wireless communication protocols and (air-borne) sensor networks as well as application oriented research (e.g. UAVs or sensor networks in disaster scenarios, environmental monitoring, security, industrial applications, etc.). Several funding projects in these fields with national funding (FFG) are already in place. On top of this you will acquire research projects (with industry and other research institutions) and set up a research team in the field of multi-UAV/multi-vehicle coordination.

Requirements

The candidate is expected to have a PhD in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent; very good programming skills in C/C++; experience with sUAV hardware; profound skills in one or more of the following areas: sUAV navigation, coordination of multiple robots, ROS, wireless communication (e.g. M2M), wireless sensor networks, optimization, modeling and simulation (e.g., with Matlab, OMNet++), and performance analysis. Experience in project management, leading teams of researchers and proposal writing for funding projects on national and EU level is expected. We expect business fluent English. Fluent German is welcome.

Lakeside Labs is located at the Lakeside Science & Technology Park, adjacent to the university campus and international IT companies. We offer competitive salaries coupled with a nice working atmosphere in beautiful southern Austria. Business language is English.

The contract will be based on a permanent-term employment (40h/week) with a gross salary of at least 50.400,- EUR per year depending on job experience and qualification.
